Day 1: ARUSHA - TARANGIRE
Arrival in Arusha after a night flight. Proceed to Tarangire where you can rest, have lunch and do game drive in the afternoon. Overnight in Mawe Ninga Lodge.
Tarangire is a good sized national park located just to the south of Lake Manyara in northern Tanzania often visited in combination with Serengeti and Ngorongoro. The main highlight is elephants, which migrate back into this area in enormous numbers during the dry season June to December. General game is also good, although predators tend to be quite difficult to find unless you focus on the southern swamp areas. Birds are also abundant here and over 550 species have been recorded.Mawe Ninga LodgeSet on a high Kopje overlooking west towards Lake Manyara, Mawe Ninga has views that defy the horizon. Each tented room is set on an elevated wooden deck perched hanging over a cliff and spaced very privately all around the hill top. It’s managed by local staff, and the atmosphere is very casual, yet it retains a flair and style that the designer who built it captured so well. Its price means it’s probably the more poplar of our choices in Tarangire. Set in the middle of the park, it required a drive down to the river to start real game viewing, but with an early start to the day you have ready access to all the best central and southern drives.
Day 2: TARANGIRE
In the morning game driving in Tarangire Park. Lunch can be in the lodge or with a lunch box. In the afternoon you proceed to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Dinner and overnight in Ngoronogoro Sopa Lodge. The lodge sits on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater from where you get awesome views of the collapsed volcano.
Day 3: NGORONGORO
Early morning you proceed for a game driving into the crater. After lunch you proceed to Serengeti National Park. This is a 5 hour drive. Dinner and overnight in Ronjo Camp.
The drive commences with the 600 m descent to the crater floor, a magnificent natural amphitheater. Covering 260 sq. km, the crater is an attraction in its own right and is one of the wonders of the natural world. The crater supports a year round resident population of a variety of wildlife. You will have no trouble spotting lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo and many species of plain animals- wildebeest, zebra, reed buck, Thompson gazelle and many more.
Day 4 - 5: SERENGETI
Full day of game driving in Serengeti Park. Dinner and overnight in Ronjo Camp.
The Serengeti is probably the most famous wildlife sanctuary in the world. Within its 15,000 sq km area it hosts 3 million large mammals. More than 35 species of plain animals- zebra, wildebeest, eland, giraffe, and others are found here. And so for the big five: elephant, lion, buffalo, leopard and rhino. The park is the stagings zone for one the most spectacular events in the natural world- the annual migration of wildebeest. This commences around June when over 2 million wildebeest, zebra and gazelle head for the Maasai Mara in Kenya in search of pasture. They are followed closely by the predators of the savanna- lion, cheetah, wild dog, jackal, hyena and vultures. The Serengeti also has over 500 species of birds.Ronjo Camp
